The Sub-Forum on Hospital Management Cooperation of the 5th China-ASEAN Forum on Health Cooperation: Towards a Health Silk Road, themed "Digital Intelligence for Shared Health" was held in Nanning from September 26 to 28. Employing digital-intelligent healthcare as the engine and cross-border collaboration as the link, the forum further deepened exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in the medical and health fields, injecting strong momentum into building a resilient and efficient China-ASEAN health community.
Organized by the Health Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Guangxi Hospital Association, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, the forum attracted over 400 participants. These included representatives from ASEAN consulates general in Nanning, leaders from medical industry associations, hospital administrators, representatives from member institutions of the China-ASEAN Hospital Cooperation Alliance, and hospital management personnel from various levels across China.

During the forum, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University showcased three key achievements: the inauguration of the China-ASEAN Healthcare Cooperation Center (Guangxi), the release of the "Urology Talk" AI Agent, and the Plague Awarding Ceremony of China (Guangxi) - Thailand (Chiang Mai) Joint Clinical Competency Training Center.
At the opening ceremony, Sakorn Pornprasert, Dean of the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences, and Associate Professor Phanida Juntasoeepun, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Chiang Mai University; Zheng Baoshi, President of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University; and Lai Mingyu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, jointly unveiled the plaque for the China (Guangxi) - Thailand (Chiang Mai) Joint Clinical Competency Training Center.
It is reported that, marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, and under the "Belt and Road" Initiative, in response to the call for building a community with a shared future for mankind, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University and its Thai counterparts will establish a regularized Sino-Thai medical education exchange mechanism. This will deepen teaching cooperation between multiple renowned universities and their affiliated hospitals from both sides, enriching the content and forms of collaboration to include short-term teaching workshops, student exchange programs, medium-to-long-term credit exchanges, and faculty visits for teaching. This initiative is conducive to fully leveraging the respective teaching and clinical strengths of the participating institutions, achieving resource complementarity, and enhancing the quality of talent cultivation and internationalization levels.

Additionally, the China-ASEAN Healthcare Cooperation Center (Guangxi) was officially inaugurated on September 16, which integrates critical care treatment, health protection, high-level talent cultivation, and medical research and cooperation exchanges, significantly enhancing the capacity and level of regional medical cooperation between China and ASEAN. The "Urology Talk" AI Agent, officially released on September 17, is the world's first AI interactive medical specialty digital human supporting ASEAN minority languages. It represents a major initiative by the hospital to actively promote the construction of an ASEAN language corpus and implement the "AI Plus" action, providing a "Guangxi Solution" and "China Solution" for digital health cooperation under the Belt and Road framework. On-site exhibitions also introduced the China-ASEAN Healthcare Cooperation Center (Guangxi), achievements in building the China-ASEAN Regional International Medical Center, and major accomplishments in thalassemia prevention and treatment research.

Currently, the digital wave is reshaping the healthcare landscape, with new technologies like artificial intelligence and big data bringing new opportunities for cross-border medical cooperation. Against this backdrop, this year's forum, themed "Digital Intelligence for Shared Health" closely follows the pulse of the times. Focusing on five key topics—hospital management innovation, data-driven healthcare, medical talent cultivation, nursing service quality improvement, and international medical exchange and cooperation—top domestic and international experts shared cutting-edge insights, sparking a vibrant exchange of ideas.
In the keynote speech session, Peng Wangqing, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center; Dai Sanjun, Party Secretary and Director of Fangchenggang Municipal Health Commission; Akarathan Jitnuyanont, Deputy Director-General of Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand; Zheng Baoshi, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University; Bui Trung Nghia, Chief of Hospital Office, Viet Duc University Hospital, Vietnam; and Lu Qing, Director of International Cooperation Office, Health Human Resources Development Center, National Health Commission, delivered presentations. Their talks covered themes such as high-quality hospital development, talent cultivation, thalassemia prevention and control, and jointly building the Health Silk Road. The experts provided unique insights, incisive viewpoints, and novel perspectives, offering a splendid academic feast for medical colleagues from China and abroad.

Since 2018, through seven years of cultivation and three previous sessions, the forum has gradually evolved from initial academic exchanges to platform co-construction and strategic synergy. It has continuously promoted practical cooperation between the two sides in hospital management, medical education, clinical research, and medical diagnosis and treatment, becoming an important bridge for sharing experiences and deepening collaboration.
As the Chinese Chair Unit of the China-ASEAN Hospital Cooperation Alliance and a regional pioneer in "Belt and Road" health cooperation, The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University has always taken promoting regional health cooperation as its mission, constructing a new ecosystem for China-ASEAN cross-border medical cooperation and continuously deepening the connotation of collaboration: the Alliance member units have grown to 221, including high-quality hospitals from China and key institutions from ASEAN countries; the cross-border medical cooperation platform has provided diagnosis and treatment services to hundreds of patients from eight ASEAN countries and expanded online collaboration via the remote medical center; the "1369 Life Express" has established an efficient cross-border transfer mechanism, enabling rapid cross-border treatment for critically ill patients between China and Vietnam; and the "Guangxi Model" for thalassemia prevention and treatment has been promoted and applied in multiple ASEAN countries with remarkable results.
